![]() The Kena Hillbilly C-Flat Band was formed back in 1985 and has been going strong ever since. We've had members come and go over the years and the only original members are Joe Evans, Ill. Don Moore (Kena '95) and Selma Corder. The band has been a big drawing card for our unit and we've had a number of fellers sign up just so they can pick and play country and blue-grass music. Our musicians range all the way from beginners to pretty darn good. ![]() First Public Performance of The Kena Hillbilly C-Flat Band (Left To Right: Don, Frank, Buck, Selma, Joe) The C-Flat band's first parade appearance was in the Manassas Christmas parade back in '91. It was pretty darn cold that day and long-time band member, Don Moore, remembers having to hunker down among the bales of hay on the float to try and stay warm. That was also the band's only parade appearance but all that's changed now. The Hillbillys now have a trailer to be used as a rolling bandstand in parades. We hope to have some pictures of the boys strummin' down the street before too long. All the money that the C-Flat Band has earned over the years has gone, in one way or another, to support the Shriner's Hospitals for Children and the boys are not about to slack off now. They get together on one or two wednesdays a month, in the Hillbilly Room or the Kena Anek, to practice and if there's anyone nearby, you can bet that the boys have an instant audience. |
