TREASURER'S TIDBITSIn July we attended the Grandfather Mtn. Highland Games. A large contingent of Clan members were present. We enjoyed beautiful weather and a brisk sign-up of new members (5), renewals (4), and sales of our new t-shirts and cotton tartan material. Thursday night we attended the picnic at McRae meadows and set up the tents. The lack of crowds made access easy and gave all a chance to look around. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we manned the tents, meeting old friends and enjoying the companionship of many. The crowds were very large. New member Bruce Graf ran in the marathon, finishing the race with a Skene tartan flag in hand. Several of our younger members ran in shorter distance races winning medals. I hope their parents will report their names and finish places to properly recognise them. Among those attending were President Tom Skeen and daughter Debbie Skeen Perret and children; Jessie, Luanna Skeens and Tim Six; VP Chuck Stanley, his daughter and grandchildren; Clan Quartermaster Linda Wilson; Gary Hall and bride-to-be; Dorna, myself, and our granddaughter, Sarah Sommer. Notes of Interest: A gentleman named William Conant appeared at the tent and asked to renew his membership. Unfortunately we did not check the membership list, and we found later that Mr. Conant's name does not appear on any of our records, and he apparently has never been a member. Also, since he paid cash, we did not get his address. If any one knows this person please contact us. We (Ralph & Dorna Comp) will sponsor a Skene tent at the Charleston SC Highland Games on September the 9th at Boone Hall Plantation. All Clan members are welcome and encouraged to attend if you are in the area. Don't forget the Annual membership meeting at Stone Mtn. on Oct 21st. Election of officers, as well as the budget and other interesting items, will be discussed. Please try to make this important meeting and voice your interests. Once again, if you are unable to attend and have some ideas, concerns, etc., I will be happy to place them on the agenda for you. I will, of course, provide you with feedback. See my e-mail address at the bottom or mail to me at 528 Castle Hall Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464; phone 843-849-9301. My e-mail address has changed. Dorna's is dc1027@yahoo.com. Please order material from Dorna. It is still $11 per yard plus $1 per yard for postage. Yours aye, TENT HOSTS: Van & Phi Hall hosted a tent at the Mumford Scottish Games on June 3 & 4; Ralph & Dorna Comp at the Charleston, SC Highland Games on September 9th. Please let us know if there are changes in your address, telephone number, e-mail address, etc. Our records depend on your help to keep them current.
