CLAN SKENE ASSOCIATION

Convened In 1984 By Lawrence Skeen

Danus Skene Of Skene - Chief
Thomas A. Skeen - President

Skene was originally, by tradition, one of the unusually early septs of Clann Donnacihdh Mha'r, known in later times as Clan Donnchaidh, and centuries before it adopted the name of Robertson.

Most histories date Clan Skene to approximately the seventh century. The Clan and it's septs are authentic Highlanders in every respect, even boasting of Pict ancestors.

Septs of Clsn Skene are several distinguished families, including Carnie, Carriston, Curriehill, Dyas, Dyce, Dyess, Hall, Halyard, Halliard, Pinkieslaw, Rubislaw, MacGalliard, Rennie, Rannie and Yyel. Due to time and changes in the language, there are several spellings of the family names. For example, Skene has evolved to Skean, Scense, Skeen, Skein and Skain, among others. This should hardly be surprising, since Skene itself is another spelling of sgian.

Clan Skene extends a welcoming hand and warm greeting to all who carry the distinguished Highland names of our Clan and it's Septs. If you are a descendant of one of our ancient families, and are interested in wearing the tartan and carrying on the traditions of your ancestors, please join us!
