From the 2nd Vice PresidentNEWS FROM YONDER GLENOur Kansas City gathering was a great success. 14 Skeen/Skeens showed up to march in the Parade of Tartans, and all involved had a great time. The weather was a bit wet which tended to dampen things but NOT the pipe bands. There was a pipe group just behind our tent. They had just started on a piece when a lively shower came along. All the on-lookers scurried for cover but not the band, they just kept right on. When they had finished, they received a hardy round of applause from all the shelters nearby. I introduced my oldest son and his family to the Highland Games for the first time and they loved it and can hardly wait until next time. In October there is a Highland games event coming up in Iowa and we are planning to go. It will be a chance for us to check out Iowa for any long lost Skene descendants. I have received not long ago five new members to welcome into the Clan. Great work everyone! On August 28th my oldest son added to the Skeens ranks a new son, Aaron Jacob. He made a grand entrance into this world. He weighed in at 10 lbs 9 oz. Question for all you world travelers. What brand of tea did British Rail use for their cafes? You know that tea served in heavy ceramic mugs and black and bold as coal? I know they used steam boiler water but what was the brand? We asked our English Tea Lady from Kansas City, but she could not remember. Maybe some of you do.
